UCDA WEBINAR: SHAPE CAMPUS IDENTITY | 03.19.25
WENDY SPEAKS AT UCDA WEBINAR
Wendy was asked to feature as the speaker in UCDA’s latest Webinar: “Shape Campus Identity: Use Design Thinking to Transform University Narratives.” Within her presentation, Wendy tackled how design thinking can be used to break new ground in creating a campus narrative, as well as how to use existing assets to play into the identity of its students and community. Participants learned the basics of the design thinking philosophy, discussed new ways to leverage visual communication, and brought in their own university stories to compare.
MINI MASTERCLASSES | 03.20.25
INTERIOR DESIGN BASICS: SIMPLE RULES THAT WORK
A great turnout for Wendy’s Interior Design Basics Mini Masterclass with familiar friends and new faces, we learned interior design basics while using a fun, easy-to-use digital tool for creating scaled drawings, rendering, and making presentations. It was a exceptional resource to learn overarching principles of Interior Design, as well as a time to troubleshoot the personal spaces we inhabit every day.
Join us for our next Mini Masterclass “Storytelling with Photography” on April 10th!
PROJECT HIGHLIGHT | 2.26.25
BUMA
Check out the new logo design for BUMA Consulting! A bold and modern interpretation of the dandelion, symbolizing resilience, growth, and transformation. The dandelion, known for its ability to thrive in diverse conditions and its iconic ability to spread its seeds far and wide, represents the brand’s commitment to innovation, adaptability, and impact. The design utilizes clean, geometric lines and dynamic, evoking a sense of freedom, possibility, and strength while remaining accessible and memorable.
KENNEDY ART CENTER | 2.21.25
MAKING A GARDEN OF STRANGE FRUIT OPENING
This past month we welcomed a historic exhibit into the Kennedy Art Center’s gallery space, and along with it an amazing group of people who came out to support, listen, and share.
Intentionally displayed during Black History Month, and in conjunction with Marion High School’s Black History Month Play, Samuel Levi Jones’ work proposes a permanent installation around the courthouse square. Intended to prototype a site of remembrance and contemplation acknowledging the 1930 lynching of James Cameron, Thomas Shipp, and Abraham S. Smith, Jones hope to open a memorial garden space that moves Marion forward.
We were honored to host this exhibition and its reception, which turned out to be one of our largest attended events to date. Jones hosted an open Q and A session rather than an artist talk, during which community members were encouraged to ask questions of the artist, along with LAA co-counder Daniel Luis Martinez, local artist and teacher Tashema Davis, and community organizer Torri Williams. We heard inspiring stories and important conversations that we hope continue to help Marion heal.
