Pray.

Most of our activity empowers us to have some control over our circumstances, outcome, and well-being. Our understanding of human nature gives us the confidence to know what we need, at least to the extent that we allow it. We are driven by the safety of what we can control. Our “work to reduce stress” causes anxiety. Seems counterproductive. Allow work to stay focused on your goals.

The risk of living by calculated goals alone will eventually lead to boredom. Where’s the mystery? Where’s the wonder of the “out of reach?” That’s where prayer becomes our greatest asset. Prayer opens up opportunities for risk. It lifts the burden from our own limitations. It’s free. It’s a shared practice. It’s not reserved for suffering.

Work for your goals; pray for your desires.

Prayer makes desires plausible. It’s the conduit to a relationship that rises above human limitations.

Prayer is a path.
